Meet Jonathan and Dana.
If you have stopped by any of our wholesale training sessions, you may have worked with them. They focus on training our café staff, along with educating and assisting many of our wholesale partners. In addition, they represent our in-house tech team, troubleshooting any issues with our equipment. Their efforts keep our baristas sharp, refined, and our café operations running smoothly.
Jonathan is our Retail Training Manager. He primarily oversees training in Madcap’s cafés. As baristas gain experience during their time with Madcap, they move through our in-house training, from customer service, to brew, all the way to espresso. Jonathan is the key trainer throughout this journey, and has played a pivotal role in developing our people. For Jonathan, he loves the challenge in his current role because, “It’s always evolving, and everyday is a new problem to solve.” Over his 6 years with Madcap Coffee, Jonathan has filled a variety of roles, but by far his favorite memory is traveling to Guatemala visiting our producers and friends at Agua Dulce, Finca de Dios, La Colina, and Hunapu. “It was a humanizing experience,” said Jonathan, connecting the daily work in the cafés with the larger coffee chain. When he is not working, Jonathan enjoys a good crossword, climbing, and biking.
