DELIGHT IN THIS BRIGHT AND SPARKLING CUP FROM KENYA

Just north of the capital of Nairobi, you’ll find the Karinga Factory in Thika District, Central Province, Kenya. Here, over 500 members work together to cultivate primarily SL28 and SL34 varieties, headed by Samwel Muteti, the factory manager. Affiliate members of the factory handle all the agronomic tasks on the farms, from sourcing coffee from the Coffee Research Station, to planting, weeding, pruning, and more. The coffee grown here benefits not only from the unwavering dedication of the factory members, but also from high elevation and rich native soil.

After harvesting, all the coffee delivered to the factory undergoes an environmentally conscious washed processing method. Water is pumped from the Rwabura river to reservoir tanks for pulping and then recycled after. The factory also utilizes waste water soak pits, where the water is able to soak into the soil once more.

In these darker months of early winter, Karinga is a welcomed ray of warm sun. With lively notes of blackberries, grapefruit, and sweet brown sugar, Karinga is sure to brighten up your morning.
