Upon visiting Juan Angel’s farms in Honduras in 2022, we learned that he passed along his highest elevation property, La Montaña, to his sons Irvin and Orlin to care for. Madcap has partnered with Juan’s family since 2014, and we’ve watched his sons become more involved with the coffee growing process. For the third year, we’re honored to release this special micro-lot coffee under Irvin Izaguirre’s name.
La Montaña sits at 1850 MASL, high above its neighboring farms in Santa Bárbara. The farm produces primarily Pacas variety, and its cherries are transported by mule because of the uniquely high altitude and narrow footpaths. Such a high elevation comes with strong winds, but the family has utilized mulberry trees as windbreaks, planting more every year.
We always look forward to juicy red berries and sparkling acidity in Irvin’s coffee, with this year’s cup being no different. Expect vibrant notes of strawberry, blood orange, and elderflower.
